The Great Debate: Is the use-by date of timber and tin up?

Posted on Oct 6, 2016

As part of the Brisbane Open House speaker series, Brant was invited to participate in the Great Debate at the Brisbane Powerhouse last night. Along with his team mates, Margaret Maile Petty (Head of the School of Design, QUT) and Peter Edwards (Archipelago), the ‘negative’ team was voted victorious via the scientific measure of crowd applause. i.e. Timber and Tin is definitively NOT past its use-by date!

Compliments must go to the affirmative team of Shy Tay (Arkhefield), Emma Healy (Reddog Architects) and James Russell (James Russell Architect), who presented some very passionate and convincing arguments.

Thanks also to Stewart Armstrong (National Trust Queensland) for opening the debate, Kathy McLeish (ABC News & Current Affairs) for moderating, and Michael Keniger (Architecture Australia) for adjudicating.
