Melbourne (and Geelong) for SAHANZ Conference

We’re back from a trip to Melbourne, where Ashley attended the annual Society of Architectural Historians Australia and New Zealand (SAHANZ) conference. This year the theme was “GOLD” and Ashley presented his paper titled “The Rhetoric of Authentic Surfaces: Gold Leaf in the Recent Work of OMA and Mario Botta.”

Highlights of the conference included a tour of some standout mid-century modern houses by Roy Grounds, Robin Boyd and Guilford Bell. It was also an opportunity for Brant to join in for a few days to visit some recent projects in Melbourne and Geelong, including ARM’s Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.
